An Ode to the “Auntie Aesthetic”: Honoring the Black Women Who Paved the Way for Great Taste

The “auntie” label is one I wear with pride. Not only because of my love for my niece, but because of the decades of aunties before me who showed me what great taste looks like. I grew up in their living rooms, sat around their dining tables, and peered curiously into their bedrooms. Their homes were lived-in and collected. They each had their own beautiful aesthetic they were creating, even if for them, it was just following their heart.
